Hammer detach from base

just wondering whether anybody have this experience ? I got a hammer about 8 heads.. recently one of the head detach from its base and this morning i see another one detached too. Anybody know what causes it ?

Detach do you mean the whole bunch of tentacles flew out? It is most probably due to high level of nutrients, check your PO4, NO3. Make sure no ammonia and nitrite is presence.

not the whole bunch.. i got a 8 heads hammer, two of the heads came loose and detach from the branch.. not melting.

Happened to my octo and Gonipora when I had my first tank

believe its a natural reaction to a shock/ constant disturbance or stressful

conditions. the individual polips eject themselves to get away and hopefully drift

somewhere else more hospitable.

maybe my clown is disturbing the 2 tentacles or... maybe my itchy hand. Anyway.. the 2nd tentacles about to came loose.. i take it out and throw away cos my first experience with the 1st tentacles came loose and it flow to my plate and sting each other.. luckily my plate has already recover.
