Crinoidea have a low survival record in a mixed community tank as they have very specialised feeding requirement. It does better in a species only tank, and even so you'll require the expertise to attend to their needs.

You may want to reconsider purchasing another until you're sure the one in your tank can survive under whatever feeding regime you may have in mind.

will do... I'll monitor the starfish for a month or so before I get another one.... thanks for reminding me...hehehe got too excited with it.. :thanks:

It's not a starfish...it's a featherstar..common name..scientifically it's called a crinoid. Belongs to the phylum echinodermata. Same phylum as sea stars and urchins.

Live zooplankton is an important factor in their survival. Forget phytoplankton..it's useless when used alone.

Always something more important than fish.
