EcoSystem Filtration

Hi!

I need help about this EcoSystem. I'm interested in this system as it's simple & no need to worry about over-skimming. But i'm confusing about this system as it use BioBalls & Caulerpa Algae.

I've read about this system in websites & magazines and so far they are successful and i would like to try one tank with this system. Most of us here against using bioballs(ammonia issue) & caulerpa algae(going sexual issue) but they're still successful with those. Why?

Anyone here try that system before? I would like to know its Advantages & Disadvantages. Please share your exp here!

ya, at first I also think like as you say.. but I read up all about EcoSystem in his website & I've also read about a lot of tanks for long term success in Practical Fishkeeping Magazines & other magazines.

1) for caulerpa algae, they use 24/7 photo-period and so it'll not go sexual reproduction.

2) regarding to skimmer, i believe what they say as over-skimming isn't a benefit. Skimmers are not only good at removing waste but also calcium & other trace elements.

Their sound are reasonable and so i wanna give a try. Any bro/sis here in Singapore try EcoSystem before? Please give me suggestions..! Good or Bad.. anything i'll accept!

did they mention how big is their "refuigem"

compare to our space limited country can we have it as big as our main tank ??

Maybe good for a 2' tank but for larger tank, protein skimmer is a better choice. Would you want to buy my eco-system?

you can check their refugium size HERE. IMO, you can build your customize size urself. I've saw in a magazine only use that EcoSystem Filtration alone for 6' Tank.

Seems like their system mainly rely on Miracle Mud. You might want to read up more on it. http://www.reefs.org/library/article/mm_analysis.html

Its not exactly simple & no need to worry cos u need to replace them after 2 yr.

It's just like a sump hanging instead of placed below the tank and relies heavily on miracle mud. After prolonged use, the effect slowly wears off leaving waste like nitrate in generous abundance. It's more for people who do not use a sump & protein skimmer.

Really nothing much to learn about, IMHO.

I don't think i will buy the idea without skimmer.

Naturally the beach is a natural skimmer.
