Cyano and and green algae,alot growing

How to get rid of cyano and green algae? any other methods other than scrubbing it off? like maybe buy some livestock to get rid of it? I got cyano growing on my sandbed...And also got green algae and cyano growing on some of the live rocks...

My tank is 2ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft...and the tank have been cycling for around 2-3 weeks already...Is is because of my light tat causes it? I on my lights for 12 hours a day when I started to cycle my tank which is after I put my live rocks in...All bros please help, I wan my tank to remain clean clean look...And I think it is also because I am using tapwater...But I top up with distilled water though....haven done any water change yet at the moment...cos I am still cycling...but I think the cycle have just finished as the ammonia and nitrite is at 0ppm...Hope there is I can just put fish in to help eat away all those...Thanks in advance for any help from all the bros out there!

you may wan to try Astraea Snail,Nerite Snail or sea hare to control the cyano and algae but the best preventive measure is to reduce nitrate and phosate level. U can either get a those FR to run your resin to reduce.

putting livestock in at this time might not be the right things to do as you are only adding nutrient to the tank.....you have only cycled for 2-3 weeks so no need to rush. I am suspecting that the die off from your rocks and combination of light is causing the problem.

try off your lights completely and cover your tank i a trash bag for about 1 months or so. Change water every week....and if you can afford do a 100% change - your tank is small enough....tap waters are bad....even the Natural Sea water from the shops fair better...

when things have clear up....then start adding livestock....maybe the cleanup crew first and then fishes (but very very slowing and avoid the big fishes)

there is no way round it....if you want to maintain a clean tank, you got to work for it.....

I tot of turning off my lights completely, but I have got some ricordea and mushrooms and some polyps and some kind of flowery, or should i say look a little like palm trees and swaying around with the flow, tat are already inside and is growing very nicely...it came along with the live rocks tat I gotten from another reefer here...

I think I will start changing water with distilled water first, then maybe will buy a DI unit to purify my tapwater...So, now all that I need to do is wait for it to clear off? Do I need to scrub off anything myself or do I just let nature take its own course?

tot you mention you cycling???? if your tank quite empty, it seriously might be worthwhile to temporary house the ricordea and mushrooms else where (sump or friends place)....then let the black out period to completely cure your rocks or at least exhast the nutrient from the rocks...i have learnt that sometime not worth getting old rocks from reefer as often or not, nutrient might have already been accumulated...

I think I am already done with my cycling, cos my ammonia and nitrite are both showing at 0ppm...Anyway, my rocks are cured rocks when I got it from the reefer...my meaning of cycling is the nitrogen cycle...not the cycling/curing of rocks...I think I will try with a shorter photoperiod like maybe just on the lights for arouund 5 or 6 hrs to see if there is any improvement...

If there is still no improvement then maybe I will get some cleanup crews...I think my tank is ready for some algae cleanup crews, I can get a sea hare and some astrea snails or maybe an algae blenny(lawnmower blenny) to help in keeping the diatoms/cyano and the green algae in control...
