hi there bro xersion,

my two cents worth ya.

try to go for a taller tank with seahorses, as it seems they behave more naturally when less limited by height. you can opt for good nutrient exporting corals and macroalgaes to form the backdrop of your tank to help with filtration, rather than solely relying on skimming and such. that will allow you some buffer to go for a less expensive skimmer. in my opinion, a second hand prizm should serve you well. thing is, in a seahorse tank, you cant have very high flows, so skimming performace is impeded, because in a lower flow tank, alot of the poo and detritus created by your tank's organisms will more likely than not settle and break down in tank, as there isnt the flow to keep shit suspended in the water column to reach your skimmer, so planting some macro algaes from the onset will help you export nitrates and po4. also, macroalgaes are quite natural in seahorse habitats.

all the best for your upcoming seahorse tnak ya bro! do share with us pics when its up.

cheers,

ian
