hi ,

the brown algae is most likely to be diatom.

do a search in SRC and you can find various ways to control it.

in the beginning, try to control your phosphate and nitrate level. silicate from tap water contribute to the growth of diatoms too.

Thanks for your advice... I am actually using "Poly filter" and Phos guard to control the Phos level in the tank.

I change and the No2 and No3 level in tank is absolue Zero..

So what may have happen then..?

actually its almost inevitable for tanks that are less than 4 mths old to hv diatoms on the glass... besides getting rid of the silicate ... over time just sit it out ... will reduce as yr tank matures further

Main Tank : 48 inch by 36 inch by 28 inch (2 sides starphire glass)
Sump Tank :
Return Pump :
Chiller : Starmax Compressor 1 HP Drop coil
Chiller Return Pump
Protein Skimmer :
Wave Maker :
Fluidised Reactor :

ever consider your silicate level.

do u use tap water to change water.

too stong a lighting too cause diatom is spread faster.

Yes.. i use Tape water fromt he tape to first cycle the water in the tank..after which i change 50% of the water using SW from FLS.

And do you think the light source is the problem ? i just change to a stronger T5 lightning for my tank ..if so, what can i do ? i cant switch off the light evey day rite ?
