need advice on my ammonium level

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.... :)

i'm new to this wonderful hobby and i need some help on identifying my ammonium levels...

i just started my tank about 2 days ago and i have added in a market prawn to cycle my tank. currently i'm using aquarium pharmaceuticals inc test kits. After i followed the step by step intructions, i realised the colour of the solution is light blue, while the colour charts provided range from light green to dark green. i even performed the test twice with the same results. can anyone pls advice?

thanks alot

My tank's dimension is 3 X 1.5 X 1.5...

Yup... i'm prepared to wait at least a month for my tank to be properly cycled.. just wanted to test the ammonia levels on a regular basis so that i can properly moniter the stages which my tank is at... :) live rocks will be added this weekend..

has anyone used this type of test kits before? just curious why my test results are not in the range of the colour charts provided....

thanks alot :D

I used to use Aquarium Pharmaceutical testkits. I can't explain as to why your test results were off the colour chart provided. However, testing your tank parameters on the 2nd day of the tank-cycling period isn't going to prove much use. If you wish, test it once a week or once in 2 weeks.

You should put in the market prawn after you put in the live rocks. The market prawn is to speed up the cycling process. The bacteria needed for the cycling process is found in the live rocks.
