Thought I should alert everyone here on the problem I encounter.

ok, I had a 2 FT tank and bought water from the LFS, all the while i bought it from LCK with no problem at all. I change the water every week and it's being very stable for months UNTIL I went to CCK to jalan jalan .. look see.look see before going down to LCK. Notice they sell sea water there and fell a bit lazy that day and bought it from them. So as weekly routine, I change water after buying the water back. Then disaster happen.. my fish start dying 1 by 1...... Now I am getting the water from LCK... Safer.. Bro please beware of the water you buy from the LFS.......... sad and angry... all fish die... :(

perhaps it's not such a bad idea to alternate between self-mixed water and sea water??? at least salt mix is free from pollution whereas we dunoe what's in the sea water...eh??????????????? :eyebrow:

...what are u missing from your life?... dun wait till your last breathe before telling them that you care

the seawater that they sell in LFS, are they mixed from salt formulations? if they are taken directly from the sea and sold to the customer, then wouldn't it be wiser and more cost effective for the customer to collect the seawater himself... Singapore is an island right??? unless it is against the law....

and irregardless of where you bought the saltwater, perhaps it is a good idea to check at least the pH and salinity of the water before pouring it into your tank....

you may wish to try this...

if there are not many livestocks in your tank currently, change 40-50% of your existing water with saltmix water...if not, put them into the quarantine tanks or "long bang" your friends' tanks for the time being... observe the remaining livestock carefully daily... if no more deaths, in a week's time change 20% of the tank water as per normal. rem to keep your skimmer on and do your water tests!!!!!

When I was at CCK saw they have a big fibre tank cycling, believed it's not direct from the sea and I have ask to test the salt level before buying... the salt level is good.. must be something else...

NSW collected from different location varies in term of pollution.

Imagine using water from the kranji.....

Water from the southern and eastern side of singpore are much better but then it depend on the whether it collected at high or low tide.

Have been using unfiltered water myself and do not have problem.

It is best to test the water first if you are using it for the 1st time from a new source......so you know what you are pouring into the tank.

I believe that LCK put in additive into the water to balance to "normal" seawater level. This could cause a shock to your system if you use water without these level in proportion.Water around Singapore are low in calcium and kh.

I was using the LCK water for a while and everything was good until I change a provider....shouldn't have done that. Friend of my offer to get the sea water for me as his office is new the coast and can get the water when it's high tide. They have some fish in their office and he say that the water gather during high tide was cystal clear and have no problem at all.

i don't think i'll use seawater unless i see them take it from the sea w my eyes. I have seen several times a lorry going to the canal near the sea and take water from there. Just imagine, this rather large canal is linked inland, just imagine the flith thats in there.
