snails

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have tried to put in a couple of snails to control my algae problem. but they dun seems to live pass 1 week. So far all fishes are doing fine, no casuaties. Only the snails dun seems to survive.

Is it because of the livestock or the water quality?

The only danger that might pose a threat is my damsel and boxer shrimp(small)

Any suggestions?

havn u fully cycle ur tank.

if there are presence of ammonia and nitrite, ur inert( snail) will normally be the first to go .

fishes that belong to the damsel family have greater tolerance for ammonia and nitrite . :)

If you have lots of algae presence, there could be a high detecable NO3 or PO4. They can cause snails to hide in their shell the whole day and thus die off in the end. Another situation is that the snail may move itself out of the water surface.
