My dad in m'sia added AZ NO3 over the main tank cuz i forgot to tell him to add it in sump. but he did follow the guidelines of dropping the different amounts day after day. now some fishes were showin some breathin difficulty and one just passed away  i told him to stop the treatment. but what are the chances of other livestock surviving this? is AZ NO3 very potent?

i'm also a current user of az no3 and i feel that dosing it directly into the main tank shouldn't be that deadly. it looks like there's only a very marginal difference. i pour it into the sump, and within 3 seconds i think it'd have gotten into the main tank. surely that short period of dilution wouldn't be the difference bet. life and death?

The bacteria bloom caused by AzNO3 is depleting the oxygen in the water. Increase water circulation in the main tank and maybe drop in an airstone or two until the bacteria has been skimmed out.

The enzymes causes bacteria growth that's why oxygen is used up and the water turns cloudy.
