haha bro i think thats the beak, a.k.a the mouth.. makes sure u dont get bitten its quite painful. maybe u wanna try throwing some live feeder shrimps ? or some small crabs in. i think octopus feeds primarily on crabs in the wild ? i saw a documentry on it.. correct me if i am wrong.

i can go to the beach during low tides.. catch some crabs (flip some rocks over there are tonnes under them, but do flip the rocks back to the usual place after that) feeder shrimps are found in shallow pools.. they normally exist in a huge huge shoal... say easily 50 - 100 but u have to be pretty quick to catch them :)

hope this helps

cheers

so did the mother octo survived? I fed my octo with market prawn and times when i caught some pest crabs from the rocks, it goes into the tummy of my octo. they simply loved it  Like wat a bro says, go to the beach and flip some rocks over and u could find abandance of craps for food for ur octo :P

:o Oops, Octo is known to be an elusive & secretive creature. It's a well known fact that they hide in rocks & crevices most of their lifetime. So dun dump the poor stringly fella :fear: into ya sump juz becos' it is not an 'exhibitionist'.

Bought an octopus 2 years back. Put it in my tank. Got a lot of rocks. Didn't really see much of it for days. 2 weeks later, got pungent smell from my tank. Check behind cabinet. Saw dried up body of octopus. BBQ 'yew he'!
