Help in T5 Lightings

Hi,

I just bought 4x24W T5 lighting system (2xtube white, 2xtube blue) from Darwin Aquarium (Bedok Blk 85) for S$124. If all white tubes, it will be cheaper at S$112.

I have following questions:

1) How will I know if they are HO or NO?

2) How many hours per day should I turn my T5 lights on?

3) What are white tubes for & blue tubes for?

4) Do I switch on four of the them or just 50/50? Like during the day, white lights, during the night, blue light?

24w is NO

39w is HO

i assume your lights at 2 ft.

for 2 ft lights:

14W - Normal Output

24W - High Output

for 3 ft lights:

21W - Normal Output

39W - High Output

for 4 ft lights:

28W - Normal Output (very rarely found)

54W - High Output.

for lighting cycle, if you are keeping corals, try to simulate the amount of daylight available. like 6-8 hours of light. if fowlr, anything is fine. juz give your fishes about 6-8 hrs of darkness to slp..

white tubes are generally for growth, blue are for growth of coraline. and also look better. white lights alone dun look as nice as blue mixed with white.

Yes, mine is only a 2ft tank.

With your valuable advise, I will turn both blue lights and white lights from 11am - 7pm - controlled by timer.

yeah! I quick grabbed it when the LFS owner told me the price. However, the tubes are dunno what brand.

Wait for these tubes to use up, before changing to better brand. Heard that ATI tubes are good..
