It is the process by which Dissolved Organic Compound (DOC) are removed from water from reef systems by absorbing them onto the surface of fine bubbles rising in the water contact column.

The accumulated organic wastes are then discharged from the stable foam at the top of the water column, thus improving the quality of the water.
