You only need to clean the grill since coralline on other parts of the pumps won't affect performance but might actually serve to camouflage it.

Remove the grill and submerge it in a container of hot water to cook the coralline and help dislodge it for about 5 minutes. Discard water and scrub the grill, removing all that you can easily dislodge. Pour hot kitchen vinegar to submerge grill. Leave for one hour, stirring the vinegar every 10 minutes or until bubbling stops. Flush under tapwater and scrub remain coralline off. They should drop off easily as powder or in whole chunks. Soak grill in kalkwasser solution for 15 minutes to neutralise any residue acid. Flush with water before replacing it in the tank.

NEVER scrub or scrape with force as the plastic material is very soft and easily scratched.

Bum : not worried unless they start to grow too much on the grill n impede on the water going into the pump !!!
