Seems that a lot of reefers are concerned about the pumps they used. Therefore i started this thread to give my point of view on what pumps sld be use on what aspect of the tank. Other inputs are welcome.

Pumps i have tried: Resun md40, Resun md55, Aquabee2000, 2000i, 3000, 5000, eheim compact 300, 600, 1000, eheim universal 1250, 1260, 1262, Aquamedic OR3500, Sicce extrema etc. . .

Return pumps:

a) Eheim 1260, Aquamedic OR3500 for 3 footer tanks and below

B) Eheim 1262, 1264, Aquabee 5000, Aquamedic OR6500 for 4 footer tanks and above

Chiller pumps:

a) Aquabee 2000, 2000i, 3000, eheim1250, eheim1260

Beckett pumps:

a) Resun md40, md55

B) Iwaki md40, md55, md70, md100

c) Rio series pumps (seriously not recommended)

Basically, every reefer is concern about the price of the pump, the durability of the pump, size, and most imptly the wattage of it.

IMO, Aquabee pumps give the best value for money. Low wattage, higg output and small in footprint. Eheim is well known for its long lasting performance, some even claimed their eheim pumps last up to 10 years and still running!!

Lastly, there are many other pumps in the market including Red Dragon, Deltec pumps etc. Its not that they are not recommended, just tt i can't give first hand experience.

cheers.

That's a good info.

Guess most Macro skimmer users are having the Rio needle wheel pump which are IMO not so efficient. I'm talking about the Macro AS100P, any recommendation whether can it be replaced by a Aquabee of similar wattage (think it's about 21watt and 1100l/hr)?

Thanks.

I was a previous user of Macro skimmer. I am sure the pump can be replaced for the venturi version. However, unless u get a needlewheel eheim or aquabee pump, i dun think u can replace the needlewheel macro version.

Rio pumps are cheap but not lasting. Most reefers expereince spoil Rio after a year and for beckett users, approx 4 months.

Hi Bro... where is a good place to get Aquabee pumps?

Alternatively, is there a good place to order red dragon pumps? Looking to explore either type of pump.

There is no local agent for red dragon pumps. Unless u are willing to fork out between $800-$1200 for red dragon.

Aquabee pumps readily available at petmart and bio ocean.
