bioballs in skimmer

yeah...tempting hor...

the water flow through the bioballs will be too turbulent for any stuff to be stuck on it turning your skimmer into nitrate factory....even if suay suay got stuck....can pour them all out and clean as part of skimmer maintenance procedure lor..

yeah lor..then can have a tower of nitrate in the tank liao....hahaha

but once in a while can pour them out to flush the stuff stuck in the bioballs mah...but meanwhile my 2012 still working well with my extrema...but was staring at the chamber and the thought of bioballs came to my mind

yes...definitely know that...hehe...me not exactly newbie to nitrate problems lah..hehe

just thought of using bioballs to break up the bubbles in skimmer even smaller...

but bioballs normally come hand in hand with nitrate problems...

so...just pondering if practical or not lor..

Using bioballs in skimmer is not a new idea.

It is actually incorporated into one or two designs from the US. Can't remember which brand/model.

But I think there must be a reason why it was abandoned....

All ETSS use bioballs in the mixing column to breakup the water jet resulting in the mixture of air with water. It is still being used. There are only about 10 balls per foot of column.

With that amount of bioballs... I don't think you can call it a Nitrate Tower of Doom....
