Hi all, now I'm ready to plan for phase 2 to design my main display tank.

Will appreciate all recommendation and suggestion

The tank will be a mixed coral tank, but with a predominant SPS flavour

Main tank :

3ft length x 3ft width x 2.5ft height with external overflow box

12mm thk all round with 15mm thk base

Water level with be 4" below bracing so volume will be approximate 480 liters

Have spoken to some tank makers regarding the external overflow type, they say not advisable due to the weak point at the joints that eventually will start to leak over the years… some even claim that they have repaired a few recently with leaking problem

What do you guys think? Internal or external overflow

Return pimp:

Eheim 1264 x 2 nos

Or

Aquebee 5000 x 2nos

Lighting:

DE Lumenarc 250 watt Metal Halide + T5 lighting 39 Watt x 4 tubes

Total 656 watts

Or

pure T5 lighting 39 Watt x 12 tubes

Total 468 watts

Wavemaker:

2 set of close loop using SCWD with Aquebee 5000 + Tunze wavebox

:thanks:

Will try to look for tank maker soon but before that I need some advise on internal circulation.

My initial plan is to use 2 closed loops with external pumps, but later decided to use Tunze instead.

What will be the best Tunze combination you guys think for a mixed coral tank, but with a predominant SPS flavour

The return pumps shall be 2 nos of eheim 1264

I appreciate any help you guys can provide.

I will suggest having higher overflow combs or you will find your fish end up in your overflow box :heh:

I'm more worry about fish end up on the floor cos I might do without bracing if there are tank maker willing to fabricate

Ok... will design a glass cover over the overflow box with minimun grap between the cover & combs

Thanks

Yeah... you will find that glass cover very useful in reducing noise too. Perhaps you can have it done in black glass to prevent algae growth inside the overflow box :)

will do that :thanks:

Here's the Tunze combinations I can think of with my small brain….

Option 1

2 Nos Tunze 6000 + Tunze wavebox with 7095 controller

Option 2

2 Nos Tunze 6000 + 2 nos Tunze nano with 7095 controller

Option 3

5 Nos Tunze nano with 7095 controller

I'm confident that all those combination will works but wonder which is best for SPS is not easy...very confuse now … :cry2:

With your 3 x 3 x 2 configuration... may I suggest the following:

Multicontroller 7095

Back left: Stream 6100

Back right: Stream 6100

Front left: Nanostream 6055

Front right: Nanostream 6055

Tank 60x40x40 Optiwhite Glass Tank Sump Elos 500 w/ Tunze Overflow Protein Skimmer Skimz Kone SK1 Return Pump Hydor Seltz L30 Wavemaker Hydor K1 Illumination 150W + 2 T5 Chiller Arctica 1/5hp w/ Aquabee 1000 Water Top-up Tunze Osmolator Dosing Pumps Grotech 3-Channels Calcium Reactor Deltec PF 501 Computer Aquatronica
