Hi guys,

:( again i got problems! 2 of my SH is having GBD! 1 have it in his pouch! the other has a few small ones in near the tip of the tail under the skin! any way to cure it? will it spread to other SH! :cry2::cry2:

hi chinmo,

1) GBD will not spread.

2) Don't ever burst the bubbles on the tail !!!

3) For GBD in pouch, you can try to evacuate the bubbles from the pouch using non-sharp object and gentle massage.

4) Try Diamox medication, if you can find it in SG :)

5) Reduce gas bubble production in your SH tank. Skimmer may be the culprit.

6) Try my method: transfer the SH to a hospital tank with no airline supply. I tried on 2 SH (kuda & comes) and the bubbles in pouch & tail subsided within a few days!

My hospital tank is just a normal bare-bottom tank with no inhabitants. Usually you use a hospital tank to add medication to treat fishes, changing water every few days and repeat treatment until it recovers. Feeding is as usually.
