haha i think it depends on how bad the aglae invasion is .. my tank is 3 X 1.5 X 1.5 .. i have 3 of them which isnt enough planning to get more.. i have a heard some reefers have about 10 in a similiar dimension tank.

snails are relatively reef safe. haven seen anyone complaining about snails damaging corals. however turbo snails are known to be very "clumsy" when moving around mine topple some smaller corals in the past  ... so make sure your corals are place firmly onto a LR.. :) otherwise the good old scraping are always a good work out

good luck with your aglae problem

cheers

Common Algae:

1. Diatom - Common to new tank - wait it out loh, snail, algae bleenie etc...

2. Green Algae - No choice, credit swap...

3. Hair Algae - go look for tang

4. Cyano - Not algae but bacteria, buy red slime removal - it works

5. Dino - God help you....

All algae can be control by rowaphos etc.

Control your feeding... Good skimmer helps.... DI Water Change helps...Discipline helps. Photoperiod...

Good luck
