Read somewhere that gives a rough guildline, 1/2 snail per gallon. Dunno if its true? hmm......

Snails are just a temporary solution. Long term solution would be your water parameters....reduce phosphate..reduce nitrate...reduce silicates.

get those very big snails and very small snails.

big ones = big appetite?

small ones = hard to reach places?

i suggest 10% 'huge' snails

and the rest small snails.
