ATI Bubble Master

I finally received my ATI Bubble Master earlier this week, but was unable to fork out the time to write a review. ATI have yet to launch their range of skimmers in the states yet and i believe i sld be one of the reefers locally to test out this skimmer.

First Look

ATI Bubble Master looks very similar to Bubble King due to the white acrylic. However, upon closer inspection i realise that the workmanship is not that fantastic. I believe that ATI sld be able to polish up this aspect of the skimmer.

Instead of using a Ehiem 1260, my ATI Bubble Master is powered by Eheim 1262, 80watt. Air drawn is between 2000l-3000l (will check the air flow meter).

Diameter of body is about 10 inch, height is about 20+ inch.

Price of skimmer : Less than 1000sgd

If you compare this with BK 200 (air flow 1000 l/h, waterflow 3000 l/h, power consumption 40W and cost of 1.283,00 EUR) or BK250 (air flow 1500 l/h. water flow 4000 l/h, power consumption 45W and cost of 1.405,00 EUR) it is realy good skimmer for the price.

Pros

1) The Collection cup is huge!!! Its seriously big.

2) Easy removal of the eheim pump and collection cup, therefore maintenance would not be a chore.

3) The white acrylic, makes it look like a bubble king. (ecstatic purpose)

4) SUPER DUPER silent. Zero noise coming from the skimmer.

5) Air Flow Meter

Cons

1) Like i mention earlier, workmanship could be improved.

2) The air intake and water outlet cannot be tuned.

Overall: Its still in the early stage, therefore i need more time to give a more fair review.

Personally, i have used Schuran, beckett and mazzei skimmers before. Thus i can do a comparison between these skimmers. However, the ATI Bubble Master is my first ever needle-wheel or thread-wheel skimmer.

Just to add, as stated by Klaus Jansen (Bubble King):

Tunze Master, Quiet1one, ATI-pumps.... are all the same manufacturer... SICCE-Italy...

Therefore i am very skeptical about the new range of ATI pumps. I actually hope they will continue to use the Eheim pumps instead. From my experience, Eheim pumps are definately far more superior than Sicce pumps.

Fortunately i got the Eheim 1262 pump.

Hi Bro acidjazz, hv u tried rising or lowering the skimmer to see if there's any diff in the skimming? Btw, for safety reason, better chg the plug to 3-pin!!!

Yes I got a feeling the air flow meter will not be able to show its maximum airflow as this original design (with air flow meter) was designed for the 1260 (49W producing 2000 ltrs of air per hour). So with a much powerful pump now 1262 (80W)... surely this will shoot the air flow meter to the max!

ReDDevils: you are right, the newer models does not come with the air flow meter. But i hope one thing wun changed, the pump!

lyz77: i was quite lazy. . didnt rise the skimmer to see if it works just as efficently. i was amused by the results it produced though!

jervis: the air flow meter is useless in this case cuz it always show the maximum, so i cant really tell u what's the air intake!! Since u are always so particular about workmanship n all, can tell u frankly the ATI workmanship is not up to standard. But since it can foam. . i shall overlook that!

Perhaps it can stay there as an indication for you to maintain the threadwheel... once it shows lower than 2500, then it's time to do major maintenance.

As for the workmanship, I've seen the Bubble Master and handled the Twister®M before... now if you are comparing to Bubble King... then it is as silly as buying a Jaguar and complaining that the interior is not as well-built as a Bentley
