Blood/Fire Shrimps

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Does anybody had any experience on Blood/Fire shrimps that can't even make it(decease) when you reach home?

First time, I had bought one and when I reach home, it already 'concuss' and died before even I open the bag?

2nd time, I bought 2 instead from another LFS, similar case happen 1 died after I reached home and the other died next day. :cry2:

Anybody has any good advice on how to handle in order to bring them back safely and survive. I really like this shrimps but do not wish to kill another one.Thks alot!:bow::bow:

Hi,

I am surprise that you said that fire shrimp are fragile. I bought three fire shrimp today and they were alive when I reach home. Went to a few places after buying though, but when inside car, full blast the aircon as I know that shrimps are sensitive to heat. Was also told by the seller to pour some of my tank water into the bag to acclimatize the shrimp before transferring to main tank. Maybe a number of death had been complain or experience by the seller. Any experience bro can share his experience? Btw is fire shrimp bisexual or they have a define ######??

The journey was just less then 15 mins, from Pasir Ris Drive 12 to Sengkang, the first time I bought from Pacific M and the 2nd purchase was from the LFS beside Reef W.

I believe the problem did not ly on the LFS I just donno Y it cannot 'tahan', btw the ah pei from T** at seletar also told me that his shipment normally will hav abt 40% casualties. Thats why he is selling quite X which I did not buy from him and in LFS I did show quite a number 'upside down' in their tank or basket.

The Skunk/cleaner Shrimps which I bought from the same LFS are ok only the Fire/Blood Shrimps cannot 'tahan'. reaaly puzzle me. Tats Y I wanna enq. from all of you Bros out there had any similar experience?

Maybe....Or perhaps I just not fated to keep them. But truefully they are really nice shrimps... I like them more than cleaner. Every time I saw them in LFS, just can't resist to bring them home, but just don dare to afraid that same tragic may happen again. :(

I believe I will get some till I really find out the truth...

Thks for all your comments and advise Bros. Hope that somemore Bros/Pals can let me no if they hav similar Xperience. :)

The truth is out there...

Anyway...if you happened to see a few dead fire shrimps & bought a shrimp from the same tank..chances are that it is already in shock and has not fully recovered...further stress would kill it easily.

Best you visit the LFS a few days later to see if the blood shrimps are stable. Patience goes a long way.

Always something more important than fish.

For your info, Hrmm....these shrimps were not even enter my tank yet.

I do agree with Fuel most properly is due to shock that causes that.

Anyway, the prices for the shrimps at Pacific M is selling from 8-$10 depending on their shipment causualties qoute by the ower.

For the LFS next to Reef W. The young chap selling at $9 but if you buy more than 1 maybe...as I say mayb..... he will sell at $8 each.

Thks for the advise pals, maybe when you all get the shrimps and bring home safely maybe can let me know...Thks again! :)

My 1st blood shrimp also died of shock within 1 hr when I put into my tank.

Very disappointed like u.

The shop owner told me that this shrimp is very delicate and has to handle with care, good handling counts.

I think adapting and acclimation to tank conditions is also an important factor.

Gd luck on your next one..

I bought a few CS from Joo Chait, cannot remember the LFS name.... I was trying to use a net to scoop it.... the auntie stop me.... she said....... CS s are very timid n cant get a shock , it will die instantly.... so she use a plastic bag instead of net to catch it....., according to her.... if CS is left without water for a few sec..... it will die..... dunno how true is this... ;)

Yeah his views are unorthodox and his salinity is rather low so his corals/live rock dun live very well. But many of his fish and some shrimp are very healthy :o:shock:

Recently, I also no luck with shrimps. Brought a fire shrimp home..aclimatised it for 5-10 mins adding some tank water to the plastic bag with FS in it...put it in .

It was ok for sometime. An hour later saw it having jerking motion n then lifeless.

Few day ago took home a medium-small size cleaner shrimp....put into the tank,

immediately got grap by my black n white clown fish and he finished it off including

the head of the shrimp..expensive dinner for the clown

Do u mean u release the shrimp after 5-10mins or add water every 5 - 10 mins?

For me, I leave the bag in tank for half hr than add water every 5-10 mins until bag has 3x its original amount. My shrimp had been happy in my tank. The whole process will take at least 1.5 hrs b4 shrimp is release into tank.

Btw, I have 2 skunk and 2 boxer.

Cheers

I bought 2 fire shrimps from Henry at M**in Lif3, it cost me $30. He has lotz of fire shrimps. I think his shrimps are rather healthy.

1 juz molted in my tank last night.

I think it is better to get at least 2 shrimps so they have company in the tank and not hide away.
