Raise your calcium level. High calcium level is one of the essential nutrients for coralline algaes to grow. Heard that increase the amount of blue light is the key to success too. Pending more experts for verification/contribution.

If you can allocate $25, try Caribsea AragaMilk. It's damn good and easy to use (with no danger of overdosing). Check out product review started by bro Altantis or drop by Reefdepot. Perfect for smaller tank setup as it replenishes your tank with various minerals and essentials everytime you dose :)

Yes, Actinic helps too :)

Ph and Kh is the only 2 items I test with the cheap tetratest kit. So far pretty stable but not too sure if the results are accurate. I do 10% water change weekly and my tank is doing pretty well but if you follow, do it at your own risk ok ;)

Why all the venom? Reefing is just a hobby, dude.

m203, I think dosing alkalinity will affect ph? Not too sure but I read somewhere that you have to balance alkalinity with calcium....its all too technical for me! So I only do water changes and drip Aquaz Kalkwasser.

Chris,

Maybe its the lights? My salinity was pretty high for the past 2 months at 1.029.

Just tested my kh with Salifert and it shows about the same reading as Tetratest....so dudes may wanna consider paying less for a kh testkit...

As I've been using the swing arm type, I didn't realise that my sg is way too high due to inaccuracy. After reducing the sg, the coraline algae start to build up slowly as all other parameters are the same.
