Although I do not have direct experience with all the 4 skimmers, I voted for H&S when it comes to performance = power consumption

beckett, bk, deltec and also hns

during my purchase of skimmer.

BK is way too expensive for me...and Deltec (at that Reefdepot is not selling it...it if not might seriously consider Deltec

and also there's no ATI skimmer... btw ati skimmer price is quite reasonable

beckett -- performance but high electricity cost, mid range cost

high end needlewheel (H&S, Deltec, aquamedic,ATI,euroreef)-- low maintainence, plug and play, high startup cost

Aqua C( class of its own, spray injection system)-- High performance, low electricity cost, mid range cost

low end needlewheel (Octopus, macro, dymax)-- good performance initially but tend to wear down after time, low cost

beckett skimmer is overall a more powerfull skimmer for larger tank, but a H&S skimmer work just fine for a smaller tank

End of the day, it depends on wat soft of corals u r keeping.

SPS thrive in nutrient poor waters, so u really need a powerful skimmer to keep the nutrients almost to zero. Waters has to be super clear n clean.

Skimmers are designed to suit the various demands of reef corals.

Low end skimmers are as good as not having in the tank coz after a while, they do not skim that well and you need to re-tune them.

So it is definitely a no-no if you intend to keep SPS. But for softies n LPS, its still ok. Can always change waters to improve water parameters.
