Purple Tang And Yellow Tang

Recommended Posts

Hi,

recently bought 1 yellow tang and try to introduce into my tank that already has a purple tang. The purple tang has been chasing the yellow tang all around and 'attack' him. Now the yellow tang has torn fins and hiding at one corner . I have tried placing mirror but that smart purple tang was not conned. Anyone got better ideas, pls help!!!

Tangs cannot be mixed usually. for now u can caged your old purple tang upz. let the yellow one recovered with melafix. I have tried melafix with good success on my "fowlr" tank. (inside got at times turtle weed, some weeds, polyps n a plate coral)

if u cage your yellow tang, it will be more stress.

Some people recommend rescaping the rock work. It confuses the resident tang and it will not defend its territory that much.

I do this too and the mirror strategy and now I have about six tangs in my tank liao. Introduced progressively...Touchwood...never had one fatality due to agression. Maybe because I give them TLC... :P

hey flubberina, those tang you add are of different species and shape thus they will not really fight unlike baby cat whose yellow and purple are of the same shape and belong to the same tang group known as zebrasoma.........

And also the blue, tang and vlamingi tangs and chocolate you have are rather peaceful tangs therefore most likely you would not have much problem.......

I have seen people keeping purple and yellow tangs together. Just my luck that can't make it. I do not want to rescape after that the fishes will be sick and got alot of problem

yeah most likely their tank is big and they most probably add both tank at the same time so that both are new inhabitant and have not gotten a territory yet
