HI ,After reading RC DIY by cheapreef it inspired me to make one.

So far I have finished now doing water leak test.

Any comment or advice are welcome.

1. Acrylic 4" left over from my ca. reactor 1m $100 so half =50

2.Acrylic 2.5" 1m $40

3.Acrylic box and circle disk $50

4. 2 pcs Union and ball vale $35

Performance unkown hope to test asap

Hi clowntrigger,the body is just 4" OD tuble by 6''and the cup inner tuble is 2.5 OD

First of all I would like to share that. AT setup this forum is to allow members to share, cultivate and encourage for more members to enhanced their hobby. I think nobody here to stop us from ' designing' or make for self used. Edmund don't own the patent right. Your objective is to share with members on your ideas to spent less on marine hobby. Moreover, you do not have the intention to sell. I personally feel that marine equipments price in Singapore is extremely expensive compare if you buy one in USA or Germany. So is a good news hearing members here to make and share their stuffs. I believe AT agree on this.

i think most of the reefers who have been here for a few months already heard of DAMA plastics long when ian was doing his ibox.....

I don't own patent rights.. nor can I stop anyone from copying and DIYing products for their own use. But I need to point out that it is risky for any American to do that in their home country as AquaC and his attorney is already monitoring the thread on RC very closely and quietly now.

actually i feel that if diy more or less for personal use....i think aqua c probably close one eye...unless really spread like wildfire and people diy for personal sales...then i think step a teeny weeny bit over the line lor...so i also not surprised aqua c forced to take action...

Well let's hope so. But since they are involving attorneys in this case for few months I personally do not think that it is really wise for RC guys to take that risk.

if you are not selling...then i think you relax lah...i think edmund only worry you get into trouble if you start a factory based on your excellent design...hehe

since yours is a *very limited and very exclusive* version..should be ok lah...

I believe it's just Edmund's responsibility to speak out on behalf of his principal. He would be considered negligent if he knew of imitations passing off as AquaC skimmers. I doubt if he really cares about DIY projects anyway.

I personally encourage DIY projects to save costs but you have to know where you stand in terms of legality of copyrighted stuff. Imitations are prevalent in the market but you can't steal someone's intellectual right and profiteering from it.

I don't think the AquaC imitations are anything like the real thing anyway...
