Is Koran Angel aggresive??

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just a question about Koran angel. I had one for a few months already, was the last addition to my 4ft tank. Was a small one when I bought it but now it's getting bigger and bigger.......... Very nice fish too...............

Until now, 2 of my fishes are dead. First was my beautiful Mandarin fish then followed by my maroon crownfish about a month later. I think these fishes are attacked (broken tail and fins) and cause of death maybe because of that too............... :(

I'm not sure if the Koran is the culpit because it's the largest fish in the tank right now. Sometimes I see it chasing other fish. My tank has a mixture of clownfish, damsels and dottybacks.

So, to the experience ones out there, is the Koran that aggresive? Is it going to attack my remainder fishes one by one....................

Thanks for reading and your valuable feedbacks!

mandarin fish can die for various reasons, such as lack of food as most of the time they dun feed on pellets or mysis shrimps but the copepods in ur tank. Besides, ur Koran angel is getting bigger, doubt it can squeeze thru the rocks to get to the mandarin.

i am no expert on angel fish, may fellow reefers explain if koran is really tt aggressive. :)

I don't have a Koran, but I have other Angels. In my opinion, I do not think that it's the Angel. Firstly, the Mandarin and the Maroon are not conspecifics, and not the least bit identical to the Angel, and should not normally be targets of Angels. The Mandarin especially do not even eat the same food. Large Angels do not normally consider smaller fishes as a threat to them, and apart from ocassionally chasing them, do not normally kill them.

Incidently, do you have a six-lined wrasse? These share the same food as Mandarins and will and do kill them.

Just my 2 cts worth.
