Hi all.....been cycling my tank for 4 days.....for the past 2 days i noticed an increase in white patches on the live rocks....not just 1 or 2...almost all live rocks have those white patches.....will the white patches go away after the cycling process is completed?? tks

your rocks had coraline algae prior to the cycling ? purple pinkish coloured rocks?

most likely your coraline algae is dying due to the build up of ammonia

thus the white patches where the coraline algae or macro algae used to be

just continue and complete the cycle

coraline algae will grow back with time

importance is to establish a good biological filter

one way to rectify is to remove your live rocks

til the cycle is complete, place them in salt water with oxygen so they will not die.
