I am just wondering if I can solely rely on this skimmer for my Percula 90 setup. Total volume is approx. 70 US Gallons. As claimed by Deltec: Normal Stocking 700 Litres (155 gallons) High Stocking 450 Liters (100 gallons) Pix below shows the skimmate by my 2 skimmers, both emptied at the same time, 21 hours later, the MCE600 skimmate is on the right. Now... looking at the left skimmate, I wonder if I should decom it... seems like not helping at all. What you guys think? I have cleared both collection cups yesterday simultaneously and now letting both skimmers running... will pour the skimmate into my "unwanted" wine glasses and update again tonight. If the result is the same as yesterday (pix above), I will retire the underperform skimmer. I notice that even w both skimmer, my older NW is still skimming. I have also seen for myself that 2 reefer who was initially running a 800L NW skimmer, after putting in another 400L NW skimmer, both are still skimming too. Since u are not running power hungry skimmer, why not just leave it there. The most is it will consume $5-$10/month nia, which is affordable. SRC Member neokn Posted July 25, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted July 25, 2006 Well, I didn't say the skimmer will not perform but it'll definitely underperform compare to the initial setting of 1 skimmer only. Doesn't matter if it's a high performance skimmer or not. I believe a more reliable test will be to off either 1 of them and redo the test. The position where the skimmer place will have to take into consideration too. Not forgetting the skimmate is suppose to be the "poo" of the LS before it can breakdown to NO2.
