IO salinity

is this the first time you have used IO ?

or did you just change to it ?

there can be a few possibilities

1. your hydrometer is spoilt, check against a refractometer, much more accurate

2. the instructions on the IO is wrong, same as my ME salt, if they say to use say 300g for 10L, it will usually take ard 350g to bring the salinity to 1.024 or 1.025; so if they claim that the entire bag can make 190L it is usually less.

remember add salt to water, not water to salt.

if you add water to salt you will lose some of your salt value due to precipitation, as a portion of the water will be overly saturated.

adding salt to water while stirring ensures that the mixture is generally homogeneous going from salinity 1.000-1.025.
