Hi all, I have a 3ft (length) by 2.5 ft (height) and 1.25 ft width Fowler Tank. I am thinking of starting corals soon.

Is T5 lighting enough for me to keep softies and mushrooms for the depth of my tank? or do i need MH?

If so, how many do I need to keep them healthy.

Thanks! :thanks:

mushies softies can t5 lah..

u must really decide on what u gonna keep.. once later you tempted to keep other more beautiful corals like sps or clams.. later u need mh..

actually softies and mushrooms can with t5 and it depends on where u place them and also how many t5 u are using..

the thing is its up to u to decide.. and must confirm on what u keeping..

actually like what some reefers here had mention..

antinics or blue light serves for 'viewing pleasure'

it just enhances your coral colour.. wat u need is a strong marine white light.. then a blue spectrum to bring out the colour of the corals u keep..

Actinics have a peak at 420nm (nanometers) in the light spectrum.... which causes flourescent effects in corals and other creatures... and makes viewing more interesting.

This peak at 420nm actually aids in photosynthesis so there's a big function to play here and not just aesthetics.

The blue colour of actinics also help to balance off the yellower lights that usually give a wider range of light spectrum and PAR values.
