pop eye fish

I have an anthias in my sump tank becaused it had torn fins and not feeding for a week or so now .. and all of a sudden when I checked today .. the eyes are popped out .. whats wrong ??

is it a disease ????

it's stuck in a partition for some time now with no food .. is it due to malnutrition??

Pop eyes diseases....

If still feeding, good chance. Otherwise it is a goner... Hear its contagious but not sure....

Happens once to my clown long time back...

Treatment: Neber know a good solution, as only happen once... For ur case, if not feeding then too bad...

Your fish is being bullied by tankmates. Torn fins accompanied by popeye are usually the result of blunt force trauma when the fish hurts itself while dashing for safety into the rock to escape. Popeye can also be caused by a bacterial infection, in which case it may be contagious to other fish. Bacterial infection can probably be ruled out in this case.

Your best bet is to isolate the fish in a quarantine tank and dose 1 tablespoon of Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) per 5 gallons of water. The Epsom salts will draw the fluid from the eye in a matter of a couple of days. You can even add the Epsom salts directly into your main tank at the same dosage. I’ve done this myself, so I can warrant that it is perfectly safe, having the side benefit of boosting your magnesium and increasing alkalinity.

But then there is the issue of continued bullying once the recovered fish is returned to the tank.
