Ya, I am using 902 and fully satisfied with the performance. It allows me to keep clean water even with heavy feeding. This definately helped my corals to color up. Of course, I have only 5-6 big size fishes. The rest are all small gobies or dottybacks.

Obviously, there are other good skimmers out there and new products continue to appear. Good luck.

Both the skimmer and denitrator will be in next week. Will post some pictures and possibly reviews on it.

Btw this are my final pieces of equipment. Gotta save money for travelling!

Last 2 equipments? Haha... that is before you decide to upgrade to a 10 footer to house all your fully-grown Tangs :lol::lol:

Can I come to your place to look at your new skimmer in action? I think your tank (with its bio-load) is the ideal tank to test any protein skimmers :)

Yeah thanks for reminding me also... gotto start diverting my funds to somewhere else... or else... I will have to sleep alone at night (just me and my tank) :cry2:

wow... interesting discussion here :P

paul, i have at least 25+ fishes in my full sps tank (3ft) and supported by my ap851. no problem with the bio-load. i feed my fishes 3x a day :P

i have no experience with the beckett cos i used NW since day 1 :P my friend, teo, he has his 6ft full sps tank. when he used dual Beckett in the beginning.. he can't get his sps colour up (due to the tuning... ) when he changed to ap902, a lot of improvement in his tank... (now, he don't have to tune his skimmer  )

anyway, skimmer is still a skimmer. how much you wanna invest on it is also depend on what you wanna keep in your tank. heavy shocking mean, your feeding is at least 5x or more a day.

anyway, will wait for your review of your skimmer and i am sure you are real excited for it arrival :P

bro, i didnt know you are such a strong supporter of NW. Personally, i have gone through 3 beckett and a schuran jetskim 150 skimmer. I always thought very highly about deltec after seeing the 851 model running at another reefer's house. The bubbles are so fine and it covers all the way to the neck of the skimmer.

You are right that there are new skimmers coming to town. At the end of the day, 3 things still determine a skimmer.

1)The efficency

2)Power consumption

3)Price

All these 3 must be balanced. eg. if a $1000 skimmer can perform as well as a $2000 skimmer in the same rating and capacity, definately the $1000 skimmer is more efficent.

Actually i try to restrict my feeding to twice a day. But every time i see my tangs getting skinny, i will dump in more food.

Hopefully the denitrator will solve some of my problems.

teo, thanks for sharing your experience. i am sure the deltec902 will perform a great job, but unfortunately the price tag is around the $2400 range. From the way i see it, deltec users will always stick to NW and tt's why there's such a small resale market.

I only heard of beckett users switching to NW and not the other way round.

hi bro acidjazz....

Interesting tank and set-up you have... I intend to set up a 6 feet tank too which is why I studied your thread from the beginning to the current 20 pages...but something really baffles me... based on my calculations, your tank should be 280gallons isn't?? Why do you say its 250g?? Or isit my inexperience in this hobby?? *scratch head*

Also, why do you use Aqualights... from my understanding, ATIs are the best in the market and its reasonably priced.... also, the penetration from Aqualight as compared to ATI in a 2.5 feet depth maybe sorely lacking?? Is that something I'm missing here?

Anyway, hope your skimmer arrives soon, though I'm an admirer of your tank thread for its colourful pics and wonderful narration, I tink it's a shame to have some 50 fishes in a 3 week old tank... and because of the heavy bioload, the fishes are starved from your controlled feeding as you're unable to remove the nutrients fast enough. I understand your immense love for fishes, but your love might be cause of the fishes death...

No offence, but just my $0.02... :peace::peace:

hi bro Ferrari, thanks for your compliments. I did a calculation previously and its rated to be 280 gallons. However, you have to minus off the sand, the liverocks and the equipments in the tank to get a more accurate reading. 250 gallons is probably a closer estimate to the water volume in my tank.

Both ATI and Aqualight are made in Germany. You are right to say tt ATI is better, but at thrice the price of Aqualight. eg. a 4 ft aqualight tube is priced at $18 currently whereas a 4 ft ATI tube is priced at $50++. I do not see a point in paying thrice the price when the difference is just 20%? Besides, a fowlr tank does not require tt strong lightings.

I understand why some reefers will be shocked at the way i stock up the fishes. I have to admit i am being rather over confident in this set up. Its definately not recommended to stock up so many fishes at one shot. Some of the fishes are transferred from my previous tank, which have been with me for more than a year. Those fishes which i just bought are all feeding and itch-free. So far no casualty recorded. However, it will take a couple more weeks or a month to see the aftermath.
