SRC Member joachimsim Posted October 12, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted October 12, 2003 I am new to Marine Reef Aquariums.. THis might be a silly question, but is there an economical way to keep those FOod Prawns and Lobsters in our home aquarium till its DInner time I mean I don;t think Restaurants use Synthetic Salt mixes like we do for our reef tanks? And Its it possible to sustain and breed those Tiger Prawns etc in our Tanks? This has been another dream Marine Tank for me ....hehe...to be able to have drunken prawns and Lobster Salad as and when I like it.

SRC Member Tanzy Posted October 13, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted October 13, 2003 I had a tub for live prawns for a week an a bit. Fed them left over seafood bits then got bored of them and the water started to smell bad so gave them VSOP, the rest is history. Quote Warning: Heavy handed moderator in operation. Nobody try to breed and makan live prawns in a tank?....where do you get life prawns anyway? and is there a cheapler alternative for synthetic salts. Btw, Zhen , you are a guy right, I saw your photos with the big tank in the Bungalow house, what was going on with those live Rocks? Btw, is there a difference in Cured LIfe Rocks..? was at a LFS ( Climenti ) today and they asking $18 per Kg...I asked them why and they said the rock was from Fiji and Blasted till all the animals in the live rock are dead and washed off..leaving the algae..? Is this supposed to be better rock?? Indeed., it smells odourless ( good) I got my life rocks from Pet Shop BOys at $8 per kg....they don't smell bad but not as good either...I think there are worms and plants living int hem/.....Isn't this supposed to be good for the tank??? actually how long can the inhabitants survive above water...in the live rock...cos they put them in a bag before I bring home with no water. FuEl
lobster can,.....but temperature must be at 22 degree if want to keep them,.... Tropical lobsters don't need 22....I've got one happily living at 27-28 degrees. SRC Member Tanzy Posted October 14, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted October 14, 2003 Yes I am male contrary to what Spiderone would want you to believe. That's Morgan's tank and we were doing flatworm extermination. Normally we won't flush LR with freshwater then bake them in the sun but to kill the flatworms we had no choice. PR is Paradiz Reef. LFS. Quote Warning: Heavy handed moderator in operation. Threads and post are liable to be deleted or moved without prior notification. Moderator's prerogative will be enforced.
