need to punch a hole on aquarium or not ?

According to the iceprobe website, the white tall part must be in water. Means that must punch hole in tank so that white tube is inside tank in water, and heatsink/fan is outside tank. Others have used a waterfall type filter and removed all media from the filter, then punch hole in filter compartment and mount the iceprobe.

doesn't make sound like a normal chiller and no fear of compressor failure, or refrigerant leaks. but, only for small tank, like 2 ft..etc
