There is no reason why it can't be done. A sump is basically a separate tank to increase ur total water volume for various reason like parameters stablility, hold equipments, etc.

To find out more, check this.

hi guys...wat r the things i need to make a simple sump tank wif refugium in it?

Step 1- I assumed that your current tank does not have a overflow compartment:

-You would need a overflow box or overflow pipe to siphon water down to your sump tank on one side. A strong return pump to push the water back up the other side.

Step 2: Your sump tank should ve a few partitions in between. You could DIY the partitions also, but a bit troublesome..Or u could buy aftermarket sump tank from other reefers. For details in DIY, u can search the forum..

Your next qns would be where to get the overflow, u can buy the box and pipes at some of the LFS or you can DIY the pipe (search the DIY forum). The actual selling price i am not very sure.. but overflow pipe is defintely cheaper.

Reefers, anything to add?
