I believe you really need to decide what are the fishes you want to have in the 1st place and always plan for their adult size eventually.

I rem reading somewhere that at least 1gallon for 2" size fishes. That means if you have a tang that eventually grow to 8", a 56gallon tank can ard 10 fishes (provided the numbers is accurate).

Hi guys, here's a guildline from one of my books.

Dun scold me if buai jun! :cry:

Max. fish stocking lvl

Reef Aquarium : 4inch(10cm) of total fish length(maximium size) per 22g/100l of water!

Fish with invert Aquarium : 6inch(15cm) of total fish length(maximium size) per 22g/100l of water!

Fish only Aquarium : 8inch(20cm) of total fish length(maximium size) per 22g/100l of water!
