Performing water change

I will like to find out wht's the best way to do a water change.

Eg.

1) Off all pumps, extract 10-20% water from main tank and top up directly

2) Off all pumps, extract 10-20% water from sump and top up directly

3) Have 2 pipe, 1 for extracting water while then 2nd pipe is for topping up with new salt water mix.

I'm not sure if option 1 & 2 will cause certain shock especially temp diff since all pump need to be shut down? Will that have a great impact on corals especially SPS?

First I off the return pump. Then I pump out dirt from my main tank first, follow by sump tank. Total about 10%.

After than I pump in new salt water mix to the sump then start the return pump. Last time I try to lower temperature of the new salt mix before I pump in. But nowadays.... I don't

actually..the temp wldnt rise so high...so its alrite to off the main pump..

i off the return pump

den siphon off dirt in the main tank

on back the pump to replace the main tank water height cos some corals are on top so they are out of the water when siphoning..

off the main pump

take out wool,skimmer cup etc to wash/replace....

on back the main pump plus adding the new saltmix to the sump...

n all is done!!...

Bro Lyz77, not just temperature... Redox can also be affected as the salt mix inside the bucket usually have very low Redox... therefore it's better to change around 10% instead of 20%. That way you can also minimize the impact of KH, pH & slight Density difference.
