What much salt to use for Marine Tank

How much salt must i used to setup a new tank of 4ft by 2ft by 2.5ft.

I am going to use Tropic Marine aqnd where can i go to get those on a good price.

DO i really need that much salt the very first time?

Use a hydrometer to measure.

on average, it should be ard 1/2 to 2/3 of a pail for a rough estimate.. but it is good to get a hydrometer to measure it

You need to take these extra volume into consideration too.

Hi, thanks for your help and advise. As i wanted to buy Tropic marine salt from petmart but the bucket was sold out. Thus was recommended Seachem Marine Salt instead and he offered me the same price as the tropic.

hydrometer...Could someone recommend me a good place and a good price to obtain one.

As an estimate, it takes about 25g of salt mix with 1L of fresh water to make 1L of saltwater.

A hydrometer or refractometer is a MUST for reefing!

If you getting a swing arm type of hydrometer, your reading should be 1.022... or a good refractometer (with alter with a change in temp) and your reading should be 1.025.

But 1.024 is still already enough cos your will realise marine salt is very expensive in a long run (weekly change of water - around 10%)

Actually Marine Environment is also a good salt
