raynaz
Hello all, I have read one thread from this forum that MD 40 (3720l/hr) is suffcient to power up the above mentioned title with great success but I am wondering is RIO 20 (4900 L/hr) sufficient too? Well the reason I have asked is to reduce electric bill and at the same time wondering whether MD 55 and Rio 26 (currenly I am using it) are overkilled for the Topic Title . I hope to hear from more experience reefers who have used them now or b4 with great success as the both the immediate smaller versions are nearly half of the power comsumption Please keep the feedback coming in.... Ps: Assume using in sump only.
Earthborne
Exactly the same qn I would like to ask! Gurus....pls help where are all of u? However, I'm planning to run a 24" beckett skimmer with EXTERNAL pump. Is MD40 enough or shd I go for MD55? If I extend my skimmer reaction chm to 36", is MD40 or MD55 enough? I'm looking for a pump with decent output and low power consumption & heat generation to drive my new skimmer. thanks in advance for advise. SRC Member Soul Posted September 19, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted September 19, 2006 MD-40 enuf liao lah, my 30" x 8" beckett uses MD-55 already overpower and have to tone down the airvalve to almost fully closed to get right mixture of air/water ratio for fine bubbles. Resun pumps uses a lot of wattage and produces lots of heat so u might wanna switch to a Rio instead just my 2 cents. SRC Member DaY Posted September 27, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted September 27, 2006 i using Rio 20 to drive a 26 Joe P Beckett for the past 1yr+ or more. So far still working fine I see no point in upgrading the pump for my case.
SRC Member tineng Posted September 27, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted September 27, 2006 me also used to run it for 1 year without much problem. Have to do it in-sump though, because evaluated poistion of an out of sump model i think not enough to drive it...
