coralife
I bought a suncoral yesterday. I feed the fishes and suncoral together with frozen brine shrimp. The suncoral doesn't open. Please help. By the way, what is cyclops?Where to get it? Is it the right way to just throw the brine shrimp into the tank as the suncoral will absorb the food? Please give advice. Thanks. SRC Member hongqixian Posted October 12, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted October 12, 2003 the problem with suncorals is that they don't open for very long if your tank conditions are not good or they and they need lots of food when they do open. The excess feeding will cause loads of pollution. It might be advisable to keep sun corals in some empty sump or something when you can feed them easily. SRC Member newdamsel Posted October 13, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted October 13, 2003 Sun coral should be placed at dark places, and usually these buggers open only at night when your lights are out. You can get it to open by target feeding it, ie bring a few pieces of brine shrimp near it....

SRC Member panlee Posted October 13, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted October 13, 2003 Sun Coral does not need light to survive. In natural sea, they are mostly found beneath reef cafe. But they are not afraid of lights... What they need is strong current. Just put them in area with good water flow and it would open up. I have one. SRC Member Chris Posted October 13, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted October 13, 2003 Squeeze a bit of prawn juice near to the sun coral and wait. In 15 minutes, it will open. Then, you can target feed it. Beware of the theives (esp cleaners) when feeding. Get the cane ready. Quote I think (marine) therefore I am
