Water falling noise in overflow box

I have a 5ft tank and the water falling sound into the overflow box is quite noisy. Seen some LFS putting bioballs inside the overflow box. Wonder if this is to reduce the noise. Any bros know methods to reduce the noise? Thanks!

do u hv a durso tube inside yr overflow? & in the sump glass wool?

No durso tube. The noise is from the water falling into the overflow box, not in the sump. Thanks bro.

u can either fill yr overflow area with bio balls

or do a durso pipe
