can this tank hold?

Recommended Posts

i have an old 4ft tank which i may want to convert into a bottom refugium for a new planned 4 foot main tank

the height of this old tank is 1.5ft....tank base is 8mm and sides 6mm....do you think it can hold sand of 6 inches high if i keep water level at 1 foot?

meaning 6 inches of sand and 6 inches of water on top of the sand....can hold or not ah....

im using a 6mm by 10mm base last tiem use freshwater tank for my refuge...

with 6 inch sand bed and 3 inch water level..

nothing happen.

even if it burst , its not my main tank.

anyway im taking the risk..

1 sure way to see if ur tank is going to burst or will burst in future

is by checking on the silicon at the top side of the tank..

i have seen a tank 6mm by 8mm base marine tank tt its front glass panel silicon is going to tear away from the side silicon....(full water level) and lots of LR with LS...

tt really scares me(luckily not my tank)

haha anyway for my case i take the risk coz my silicon work is real solid plus checking with the tank maker abt how the waterpressure acts on the glass and why the higher the tank the thicker the glass must be used...

finally i took the risk...

and im happy with the results..(for now)

heheh
