LIGHTS ON or OFF

Hi my 2 feet tank is now 10 days of cycling process.... i on my 10K PL lights everyday for aout 10 hrs...notice a lot of brown algae on the LR..... , very ugly....

Do i need to on the lights during cycling.....cos some say yes, some say no...kinda confused.... , heard it will go away by itself when the water stabilise ??

Can someone gives comments...

but then the precious coraline algae on the LR will also die off right? wat a waste..hehe

me changing to new tank soon...have to ponder over the same problem also....sorry for repling in your thread hamann

Cycled mine with lights on as per normal.

Don't have to worry about Diatoms, a norm. for new tank.

Me same as ur still on cyclying for 1 week liaw but i ture on the light 5-6hr a day by using digital timer

try shorter photoperiods
