Hi,

For LPS, is it enough to simply use a 150watt 20k mh fixture without actinic lights? And still achieve good husbandry? Or substitute the actinic with LEDs?

Emm... I might be wrong but 20000ºK is not very beneficial for coral growth be it softies, LPS or SPS... pls do consider... if you like cool blue effect and 14000ºK ain't cool enough for you, perhaps you wanna consider the Aqua Medic Aqualine 16000ºK... quite nice hue with a touch of pink... there's a tank in Aqua Mart just using this bulb. Nice :-) Then you can add 2 actinic to further "blue" it.

yup, the par is lower so the coral will grow slower, but it sure look nice, i mean the colour of the bulb

hi, for lps, 20kk is good enough. they love it and u will love it too don't need any supplement lights since the 20kk looks blue already don't worry about growth cos lps won't grow much... they only gain more fleshy

Ok,

I got 20k as well as 17k bulbs. Will try the 20k ones first. Will try doing away with actinic to see the results.
