Refugiums necessary?

Refugiums necessary? goin to DIY my 2ft tank into a sump, but dun koe want to add a Refugiums in it...what u guys think?

There is nothing that is necessary or unnecessary...having a refugium will have its own set of merits;

1) Economical way of nutrient export for nitrogenous and phosphorous materials (when the macro algae establish itself, you must also prune it)

2) A haven for critters and pods to establish safely

3) A good acclimatising place for new additions
