Help! My tank stand is unstable

I really need the help of the pple here to recommend me a gd carpenter who can help support the stand that is holding my 2ft tank. When the stand was constructed, it was meant for a tank about 1.5 ft only. Now, that I had 2ft on it, the weight must be damn heavy. The stand was constructed around July this year and I had shifted the tank there on the month of Aug.

Now the stand has started to make faint creaking noise every now and then. I am alarmed and worried like hell. :cry2: As the tank is in my room, I can't sleep coz so preoccupied that it will crash. Pls help urgently.

Are you any good at handy work? You can secure it first while waiting to buy a stand!! I can't stand the thought of going to sleep with a tank full of lives and water on a unstable stand!!!

Nope. Indeed im so lousy. I had secure it with a metal rod for the time being. The stand is only a bit dented & it has caused me much alarmed. I want to take this precaution before the situation get worse.

Buy a big plastic tub for your fish n rocks...and buy a new stand on the same day....You should be able to complete the move within a day.

I can move it to at any other place coz i was barred from putting it elsewhere other than my room. Some more the current stand is custom built and attached to the wall and my bed. So how to put a new stand? Already got no room for me. My intention is to get a skill and experience carpenter to put up some more support in the middle of the stand.

Well, I would suggest to move all LS to a safe place. (i.e. another tank, pail, etc.)

Stop worrying, and get moving. Else shall face a 'waterbed' floating in the pond!

Remove water in the tank till is light for you to carry about.

Throw away the existing stand. No point of retrofitting!

Get a cabinet or metal stand (i.e. wrought iron or stainless type)

Try Clementi, Blk328. Can get cheaper stand there.

hahahah same here ......no where else the n my own room......

believe less then 50% of wat ppl tell u n bring it up tp 99% by confirming it urself

depending on how yur stand is, maybe u can stack bricks or those cement blocks underneath the tank....cement blocks as in the tyoes that wat*r cy*le is using....

Aiyah! My stand is like those hanging type cabinet, where the behind part is more secure than the front part. So if I put bricks, skali the lower part of the cabinet collapse coz cant tahan the weight of the bricks how?
