Hi,

I'm newbie in marine .......

Just b4 my tanks get cycled.....I have this questions....

How do i prepare the new salt water for the water change after cycling......

Was thinking aged the tap water with anti-chlorine/chloramine in a pail for a day, than mixed the marine salt..............

do i have to make sure the the salt level(I'm quiet sure this have to be done), PH and temperature of the new water to be the same as the tank's water?

If PH doesn't match....how? can just add in or i have to buffer it 1st b4 adding it in?

Thanks for the advise.....

Just leave it in a tub overnight.

You have to use a hydrometer to measure the salinity.

Temp is measured with a thermometer.

PH use a PH probe/monitor or with a PH test kit.

Don't add any PH buffers to fresh saltmix water... you may get some precipitation of calcium reacting from the buffer. Add the buffer to the tank only after you add in the new water change. Measure from there.

thanks Achilles Tang.

will check for salinity n temp B4 i add in the water.

what about at the later stage when i have live stock?

do i have to check the PH? wouldn't it stress the fishes if i do partial water change with water at different PH level?
