things to consider:

1). design

2). OS ( operating system )

3). CPU processor speed

4). RAM type n amt ( no. of K n their speed )

5). Availability of Wireless LAN adapter n LAN adapter

6). DVD/CDRW ROM

7). Brand ( reliability ) n technical support

8). Price/Free gifts

Recommendation: maybe can go sim lim square n compare some prices n config there then go courts/other electronic shops n compare again.... secondhand ones can be considered, but is susceptible to breakdown/hang/battery replacement....

i think can filter out D*LL n IBM cos both r ex. n can get same or betta configurations at a betta price for other brands....

The IBM Thinkpad is THE choice ... I'm using a R series, my siblings uses the X series, most of my counterparts in the IT industry have been using them for years ...

Hell, almost everyone whose particular about reliability will put their money down for a Thinkpad. It has good resale value as well.

What would u computer wiz recomend if there is a budget of 2.5k to 3k to get a lap top ?

Thank u :paiseh:

Do u carry the notebk ard often?

If yes, probably u may wanna get a ultra portable (slimline types)

For slimline notebk, price will range at least 3k and above (unless its a 2nd hand one)...recently Fujitsu has dropped thier notebk price by a bit..u may wanna check out thier pdts..

I think the question to you is how long do you want to keep it!!!

If more than 3 yrs. Buy one that is reliable. (IBM, Toshiba, If you dun need a IBM compatible platform, I recommand Powerbook too!!)

If less then that, then get a cheaper one. (Fujitsu (Classic, Huge but cheaper), mitac? etc...)

I think its usage is more important. If you travel then slim models are ideal, If minimium transportation then get one with everything built in. If you do image and video, get a powerbook, sony for a pc based! etc... give more details for more detail recommendations?! :peace:
