SRC Member Lara Posted May 25, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted May 25, 2006 Dear Guys, I am planning to invest in Chiiler for my tank 500 Litres. Budget is huge issue, would you please suggest. Is Resun O.K.?
SRC Member fongster Posted May 25, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted May 25, 2006 If budget is a huge issue how about getting it second hand at the pasar malam ? i think a resun cl-650 will do for your tank a reefer here said the cl650 can chill his 4x2x2 tank (about 450 litres+) + 250w light, 78W t5 and 250w of pump power. second hand can get for $250 ? if lucky even $150 (not often) hope this helps you
SRC Member fongster Posted May 25, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted May 25, 2006 sorry forgot the temp it chilled it down to ok he said with all pumps and lights he can bring the temp down to 26 degrees but not sure if his chiller is working overtime but a temp of 27-28 is ok for most corals and fishes, you dun seem to have sps, since your tank is lighted up by only T5 ? so power consumption by chiller would be nominal if u get a proper working unit all the best in your search
mansiz
I agree, a resun CL650 is enough to chill your tank. But no matter what chiller you use, electrical bills will sure rise. You have to take note before you purchase 1.
jervismun
There are 2 types of chillers out there: Type 1: Low startup cost (eg. Resun) high maintenance (due to high wattage) Type 2: High startup cost (eg. Arctica) low maintenance (due to lower wattage) Really depends on what's your long term goal... From what I know... almost all chillers are made in China nowadays except: 1. Arctica - entirely made in Korea 2. Aqua Medic Titan - parts from Japan, assembled in China 3. Teco (old models) - entirely made in Italy That's all I can provide based on my limited knowledge Quote Tank 60x40x40 Optiwhite Glass Tank Sump Elos 500 w/ Tunze Overflow Protein Skimmer Skimz Kone SK1 Return Pump Hydor Seltz L30 Wavemaker Hydor K1 Illumination 150W + 2 T5 Chiller Arctica 1/5hp w/ Aquabee 1000 Water Top-up Tunze Osmolator Dosing Pumps Grotech 3-Channels Calcium Reactor Deltec PF 501 Computer Aquatronica

SRC Member Lara Posted May 31, 2006 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 31, 2006 Bro Lara, the few image you attached is the same tank or different one? Cas I saw a clown trigger in one of the picture. It's different tank, those was my both tank. Size 36 x 18 x 18" and 60 x 20 x 20" But all sold out because of house moving. I love trigger, so i made decision to collect many trigger as I could in that time. they were tamed and smart as dog. Now my new tank is running system, I've changed to feed tangs instead becasue trigger is quite aggressive for shell, crab, shrimp, spiny. All tank inverters had been eliminated. My new tank size is 60 x 20 x 20" and treatment tank 36x 20 x20" It have been run for a month. The members : Yellow tang, Blue tang, Powerder brown tang, Purple tang, Naso ###### tang and nemo. I can't take all them a pic. so fast. PS.all suggestion are appreciated. I am sis not bro.

SRC Member May&Bruce Posted June 1, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted June 1, 2006 Hi Lara I ran a CL450 on my 5 x 2 x 2 for quite some time. The CL650 is physically the same size but a bit higher power. The noise should be quite OK, but I recommend that you install it in a cupboard to reduce some of the noise. However, the cupboard needs to be well ventilated, such as having no rear on it, so you can get a good air flow through the chiller. Dear May&Bruce, Many thanks for your info CL 650, I am worry about noise too because my tank is in the living room. Your recommend is so good. I have a rooms in the treatment tank area about 24 cm x 20 x 100 cm. wish it fit with cl 650 body. Now waiting the capenter to cover the treatment tank level.
